A Beginner’s Guide to Not Getting Obliterated in Saros

A Beginner’s Guide to Not Getting Obliterated in Saros

Saros is a new action roguelike that throws players into a chaotic world of bullet hell combat. With a dense web of systems and mechanics, some of which are not immediately obvious, it can feel overwhelming for newcomers. But surviving the first few runs is less about luck and more about understanding the game's core rules.

First, movement is your primary weapon. Standing still is a death sentence. The screen fills with enemy projectiles quickly, so learning to weave through patterns is essential. Focus on small, controlled dodges rather than panicked dashes. Your dash has a cooldown, so save it for the moments when a wall of bullets closes in.

Second, don't ignore the upgrade system. Many players rush to pick the first shiny weapon they see. Instead, take time to read the descriptions. Some upgrades synergize in powerful ways. For example, a slow-firing gun paired with a damage-over-time effect can clear crowds more effectively than a rapid-fire weapon. The shop between stages is also critical. Prioritize health upgrades early, then look for items that boost your primary damage output.

Third, learn enemy attack patterns. Each enemy type telegraphs its moves. A flash of light, a specific sound, or a pause in movement signals an incoming attack. Memorizing these tells turns a chaotic screen into a solvable puzzle. The game rewards patience over aggression.

Finally, do not fear death. In Saros, dying is a learning tool. Each run unlocks new options and reveals hidden mechanics. The game is designed to be beaten through persistence, not perfection. Focus on surviving one room at a time, and the rest will follow.
