Local video game store levels up with new arcade, featuring over 30 retro and modern games

A familiar spot for tabletop gamers and hobbyists just got a whole lot louder. The local video game store has expanded its space to include a full arcade room, packing in more than 30 cabinets that span both classic and modern titles. Players can now walk in and grab a token for old standbys like Galaga, Jr. Pac-Man, and Mortal Kombat II, or try something newer if they want a change of pace.

The owner said the idea came from listening to customers who kept asking where they could play these games outside of a bar or a faraway event. Instead of pointing people elsewhere, the store decided to bring the machines in-house. The arcade is set up with a mix of original cabinets and a few multicade units, so there is a little something for every generation. Some machines are set to free play during certain hours, while others run on a simple token system to keep the old-school feel.

Beyond the games, the space is meant to be a hangout. There are stools, a small shelf of strategy guides, and enough room for a few friends to crowd around a single screen. The store plans to host casual tournaments later in the year, starting with a high-score night for the classics. For now, the doors are open during regular store hours, and walk-ins are welcome. Whether you grew up with quarter munchers or just want to see what the fuss was about, the new arcade gives the neighborhood one more reason to stop by and stay a while.
