A Minecraft Movie 2: New Title Announced for Video Game Sequel Film

The sequel to the blockbuster video game adaptation has officially been given a new name. Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that the follow-up to "A Minecraft Movie" will be titled "A Minecraft Movie 2: The Nether Update." The studio also confirmed that the film remains on track for a 2027 release.

Directed by Jared Hess, the original "A Minecraft Movie" was one of the biggest hits of 2025, surprising many critics with its box office performance. The film brought the beloved sandbox game to life with a mix of live-action and animation, following a group of characters navigating the blocky Overworld. The sequel's title hints at a deeper dive into the game's lore, specifically the dangerous and fiery dimension known as the Nether.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but the new subtitle suggests the story will involve the game's iconic Nether fortress, piglins, and the formidable Ender Dragon.
